Thomas Austin is a Research Analyst based in Fort Collins, Colorado. He assists with water market research in Colorado and other Western states, and supports asset valuation for a range of water users. 

Thomas earned his Bachelor of Economics at Montana State University and combined the degree with a Water Resources minor. During his time at Montana State, Thomas carried out econometric and financial analyses on assets including land and water. He also assembled a series of reports on the groundwater, surface water, and wastewater assets in Oakland, California. 

Prior to joining WestWater, Thomas worked as a fly fishing guide at a premier lodge in the Alaskan wilderness, and a writer covering issues related to conservation and the outdoors. Thomas is an avid fly angler, cyclist, and trail runner, and is usually found outdoors when not in the office.
